Are you a 2020 Bride like me? Are you still going ahead with your bachelorette party but had to revamp it?
Not to fear- I have some really cute and COVID friendly gift ideas to give your girls!
Let me start out by saying, being a 2020 ‘COVID’ bride (which I honestly shudder at being called that), has not been on my list of todo’s. It’s been an absolute nightmare replanning ANYTHING. The headache of juggling the idea to postponing the wedding or to not postpone the wedding was already enough. Before that, we had to wait for the quarantine to even be lifted to plan a last minute bridal shower back in June.
Surprisingly, 12 family members and friends showed up, we were able to have a private room in a quaint restaurant and no one got sick (thank god). Shortly after when everything shut down again for the second time, that was when my fiancΓ© and I decided to finally pull the plug. We postponed our wedding.
After over a year of planning, and only 84 days left to go, our countdown quickly became 445 days and we felt defeated. We knew we made the right decision for our friends and family, but it was such a surreal experience. After that, we knew that once our original wedding date rolled around, we would feel sad. So we decided to still get married on that day. We ended up planning a micro wedding / elopement on our original date, and postponed our 200 guest gathering for the following year as a one year celebration.
Anything goes in 2020 now… I guess.
Since we were still getting married, and my bachelorette party wasn’t your typical crazy party you hear about in the movies, we decided to go forth with it. Some girls who were invited didn’t feel comfortable coming due to travel, so we lost about four people, making our count eight people, including myself.
Unfortunately, my fiancΓ© had to postpone his bachelor party because, although his is still a surprise, what they had planned for him required to be around other people and included activities at places that were temporarily closed.
My bachelorette party, however, had always been a weekend trip to Sedona, Arizona. I was looking for something more low key and relaxing. So we rented an air bnb for eight people, booked ourselves a private wine tour with our own charter bus, made dinner reservations at this not so fancy restaurant, and reversed tie-dyed at night while snacking on late night munchies!
Check out my blog on how we Reverse Tie-Dyed here!
With a bachelorette party, comes gifts! I wanted to make sure everyone felt safe, taken care of and had gifts they could use and not just look at and smile and toss.
SAFETY FIRST: Masks, Hand Sanitizer, Thermometer
Instead of a silly shirt that says “bride squad” that would most likely end up in a Good Will box… I wanted to give them a gift that they could still wear to have that ‘bride squad” essence and be safe. Masks are required and you can never have too many. Perfect!
The spray hand sanitizer and thermometer are also on amazon.
I first looked through Etsy to see if they had custom made masks, and they were all fairly expensive, so I bought a pack of 8 black masks on Amazon (here), a pack of 2 white for me (here) and gold iron on decals (here). I did a little DIY work, and voile! Everyone was safe and now a part of my bride squad.
This was my little DIY project to make the masks a little more personal. I also wanted to put their first initial on the mask instead of “squad”, so they would be able to wear them again without something cheesy. Super easy and affordable to do!
YOU CANT EVER BE TOO SAFE: Personalized water bottles
I purchased these personalized tumblers on Etsy, and they were a hit. I got the girls black with rose gold writing and mine was white with rose gold writing. I wanted everyone to have a water bottle with their name on it so no one would be accidentally sharing drinks.
KEEPING THE THEME
I thought I would keep with the mask theme and get various kinds of masks. Eye masks were another mask I could buy that would be personal. I picked out their favorite colors and put their names on the masks. I personalized these on Etsy as well.
I continued even more with the mask theme. I bought individual mask packets on amazon (here), cute fluffy headbands to hold hair back, and color coordinated mask brushes togo with it.
